How to Watermark Photos and Videos on iPhone (Logo, Signature, Date Stamp and Batch)
Add a text, logo, signature or date stamp watermark to photos and videos on iPhone, one at a time or up to 50 at once, without uploading your files.
You post a product photo, and a week later it shows up in someone else’s listing. You send a client a preview from a shoot, and it gets passed around before the invoice is paid. A watermark won’t stop every copy, but it keeps your name on your work wherever it ends up, and it makes passing that work off as someone else’s a lot harder.
This guide covers the ways to watermark photos and videos on iPhone: the free tool already built into the Photos app, and our app Markora for logos, date stamps, QR codes, video and batches of up to 50 files.
The short answer: to watermark a single photo on iPhone, open it in Photos, tap Edit, then Markup, and add text or your signature. For anything more, such as a logo, a date stamp, a QR code, a watermark on a video, or the same layout on a whole batch of photos, use a watermark app. Markora does all of these on your iPhone without uploading your files.

What you can use as a watermark
A watermark doesn’t have to be a line of faded text. Markora has five types, and you can combine them on the same photo or video, for example a logo in one corner and a date stamp in another.
| Watermark | What it is | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Your name, brand, social handle, or “© 2026 Your Name” | Photographers, creators, social media posts |
| Logo | Your brand image. A transparent PNG works best. | Online shops, sellers, agencies, real estate |
| Signature | Drawn with your finger | Artwork, prints, personal photography |
| Date and time | The current date, time or both, in one of four formats | Delivery and condition photos, site visits, field reports |
| QR code | Generated from a link or any text you type | Product photos that link to your shop, flyers, event photos |
How to watermark photos on iPhone with Markora
- Add your photos. Import them from Photos or Files, or take a new one with the camera.
- Add a watermark. Choose text, logo, signature, QR code or date and time. Add more than one if you need to.
- Place it. Drag, pinch and rotate each mark, or snap it to one of nine positions, such as a corner or the center. Alignment guides help you line things up, and you can lock a mark so it doesn’t move by accident. Every change can be undone.
- Style it. For text, pick a font, a size from 12 to 96 pt, a color and an opacity, and add a shadow or outline so it stays readable on both light and dark backgrounds.
- Save it as a template if you’ll use the same layout again.
- Export. Save the result to your photo library as a JPG or PNG. Depending on your plan, you can choose the export quality and whether to keep or remove the photo’s metadata (EXIF).
That’s the whole flow, and it’s the same for every watermark type and for video.
How to add a logo to a photo on iPhone
Adding a logo works best when you start with the right file. Use a transparent PNG of your logo, so only the logo appears on the photo, not a white box around it. If you only have a JPG with a white background, ask your designer for a PNG version or export one from the tool you made the logo in.
Then, in Markora:
- Add the photos you want to brand.
- Add a Logo watermark and choose your logo image from Photos. With Pro, you can also import it from Files.
- Resize it so it’s clear on a phone screen without covering the product, then snap it to a corner.
- Save the layout as a template, so every product photo gets the logo in exactly the same spot.
A logo in the same place on every photo makes a catalog or Instagram grid look consistent, and it tells people at a glance whose photos they’re looking at. The same steps work for putting a logo on a video.
How to add a signature to a photo
Choose Signature, draw it with your finger, and adjust the pen thickness until it looks like yours. Place it where an artist would sign a print, usually a lower corner, and save it in a template so it looks identical on every photo.
The Markup tool in the Photos app also has a signature option, which is fine for signing one photo. A template is quicker when you’re signing a whole set of prints or a gallery for a client.
How to add a date and time stamp to photos
The iPhone camera doesn’t print the date on your photos. It stores the date in the photo’s details instead, where nobody sees it unless they look. When the date needs to be visible, add a Date and time watermark in Markora and choose one of four formats: the date, the time or both.
A visible date stamp is useful for:
- delivery and handover photos
- the condition of a rental, a car or a returned item
- site visits, inspections and daily progress photos
- receipts and proof that something was done on a given day
One thing to know: Markora stamps the current date and time, the moment you add the stamp, not the date the photo was taken. That suits photos you take and stamp on the same day. For older photos, swipe up on the photo in the Photos app to see when it was taken, then type that date into a Text watermark instead.
How to add a watermark to a video on iPhone
The Markup tool in Photos only works on photos. To put a watermark or logo on a video, you need an app.
In Markora, a video works the same way as a photo. Add your MP4 or MOV clip, add your text, logo or other marks, place them, and export. The watermark stays in place for the whole video. With Pro, you can watermark up to 50 videos in one batch.
The free version exports video at medium quality. Pro adds HD and original-quality export, which matters if the video is going to YouTube or a client rather than a Story.
If the video is landscape and you’re posting it to Reels, Shorts or TikTok, watermark it first, then fit it into a vertical frame without cropping it. Our guide on turning a landscape video into portrait (9:16) without cropping covers that step.
How to watermark multiple photos at once on iPhone
Watermarking 40 product photos one at a time is where most people give up. In Markora:
- Select all the photos (or all the videos) you want to watermark.
- Apply your layout, or a template you saved earlier.
- Preview the placement. This is worth a quick check when a batch mixes portrait and landscape photos.
- Export the batch. A progress tracker shows how far along it is, and the results are saved to your photo library.
The free version batches up to 3 files at a time. Markora Pro raises that to 50 photos or 50 videos per batch.
Where to put a watermark on a photo
There’s no single right spot. It depends on what you’re protecting against.
- A corner is the least distracting and the easiest to crop out. It’s the usual choice for social posts, where the goal is credit rather than protection.
- Across the subject, at lower opacity, is harder to remove and more visible. Use it for client previews, stock-style images and product photos that tend to get copied.
- Opacity: as a rule of thumb, 30–60% keeps a watermark readable without hiding the photo.
- Contrast: white text or a white logo with a soft shadow or outline works on most photos.
- Consistency: the same mark in the same place on everything you post becomes part of your brand. Templates make this automatic.
- Location data: photos can carry the GPS location where they were taken. Removing metadata when you export is a sensible habit before posting photos publicly.
Can’t my iPhone already do this?
Partly, and the built-in options are worth knowing:
- Markup in the Photos app. Open a photo, tap Edit, tap the Markup button, then tap the Add (+) button to add text or a signature. It’s free and already on your phone, but it works on one photo at a time, only on photos (not videos), and there’s no way to save a layout and reuse it.
- Lightroom mobile. If you already edit in Adobe Lightroom, it can add a text or logo watermark when you export photos. It’s a good option if Lightroom is already part of your routine.
- Online watermark sites. These work in any browser. Many of them process your files on their own servers, so check the site’s privacy policy before uploading client work or unreleased products.
If you watermark the occasional photo, Markup is all you need. Markora earns its place when you need a logo, a QR code or a date stamp, when you’re watermarking video, when you have a batch to get through, or when you want every photo to carry exactly the same layout.
Your photos and videos stay on your iPhone
Markora adds watermarks on your iPhone. Your photos and videos aren’t uploaded to BoMoSi or anyone else to be watermarked, which matters when a shoot includes client work, unreleased products or personal photos. We explain this in more detail in Why Markora watermarks stay on your iPhone, and how it varies across our apps in What “privacy-first” means across the BoMoSi portfolio.
The free version shows ads, so the App Store privacy label lists app usage and advertising data. That covers how the app is used, not your media, which stays on the device.
Free and Pro
Markora is free to download. The free version includes all five watermark types, batches of up to 3 files, medium-quality video export, and a smaller selection of fonts and colors. It shows ads and has limits on exports.
Markora Pro adds:
- unlimited exports
- batches of up to 50 photos or 50 videos
- all 11 fonts and all colors for text, date stamps and QR codes
- text stroke, underline and letter spacing
- HD and original-quality video export
- logo import from Files
- no ads
On the US App Store, Pro costs $2.99 a month, $19.99 a year, or $39.99 once for lifetime access. Prices for your country show in the app, and you can cancel a subscription anytime in your App Store account settings.

FAQ
What is the best app to watermark photos on iPhone?
For logos, video, date stamps and batches, Markora is built for exactly this. It adds text, logo, signature, QR code and date stamp watermarks to photos and videos, handles up to 50 files at once with Pro, and does it all on your iPhone without uploading anything. For a single photo now and then, the free Markup tool in the Photos app is enough.
How can I watermark photos on my iPhone for free?
Open the photo in Photos, tap Edit, tap the Markup button, then tap the Add (+) button and choose Text or Signature. For more than that, Markora is free to download and includes all five watermark types, with batches of up to 3 files and ads.
How do I add a watermark to a video on iPhone?
Use a watermark app, because the Markup tool in Photos doesn’t work on videos. In Markora, add the video, add your text or logo, place it, and export. The watermark stays in place for the whole clip.
How do I watermark multiple photos at once on iPhone?
Select all the photos in Markora, apply your layout or a saved template, preview it, and export the batch. The free version handles up to 3 files per batch, and Markora Pro handles up to 50 photos or 50 videos.
How do I put my logo on photos on iPhone?
Save your logo as a transparent PNG, add it as a Logo watermark in Markora, place it in a corner, and save the layout as a template. Every photo you apply the template to gets the logo in the same position.
Can I stamp the date a photo was taken?
Markora’s date stamp uses the current date and time, not the date the photo was taken. For an older photo, swipe up on it in the Photos app to see its date, then type that date into a text watermark.
Do watermarks stop people from stealing photos?
Not completely. A watermark in a corner can be cropped out, and editing tools can remove some watermarks. What a watermark does is keep your name on the photo wherever it’s shared and make copying it more trouble than it’s worth. Placing it across the subject at lower opacity makes it harder to remove.
Does Markora upload my photos or videos?
No. Watermarking happens on your iPhone, and your photos and videos aren’t uploaded to a server.
Is Markora available on Android?
Not yet. Markora is available for iPhone and iPad only.
